Akris

Founded in 1922 by Alice Kriemler-Schoch, Akris is a Swiss luxury womenswear brand. Alice Kriemler-Schoch started out creating dotted aprons, and soon expanded into clothing. When Alice’s son, Max Kreimler, took the business over in 1944, the brand began to create ready-to-wear, expanding further. To this day, the spotted design from the beginning days of Akris is still used in packaging and gift boxes, a nod to the company’s heritage. Still a family-run business, Albert Kriemler is the current Creative Director for Akris

Akris produces ready-to-wear for women, plus accessories and bags. Albert Kriemler considers womens lifestyles when designing, and holds the philosophy that life is so busy these days, so clothes should be simple. This notion has created versatile and sleek pieces in the Akris collections, which are designed to work for a number of occasions and for a number of years. Akris focuses on using exceptional fabrics and expert tailoring to create silhouettes which are flattering and classic. Sticking mainly to muted tones, Akris collections do feature bold pops of bright hues and artistic prints which highlight the brand’s bold side. Their refined aesthetic has proved a hit with business women and those needing clothing that provides a smart and sleek look. With structured trousers, elegant dresses and luxurious knitwear, Akris styles can be effortlessly taken from day to night, and consistently evoke a ‘discreetly luxurious’ feel.
Akris has stores worldwide, including locations in New York City, Atlanta and London. The brand is sold in over 300 locations, and can be found online through their own website, as well as through Net-a-Porter and Yoox.
