Aliita

Founded in 2015 by Cynthia Vilchez Castiglioni, Aliita is a luxury, Milan-based jewellery brand. Aliita means ‘important object’ in Wayuu, which is the native language of Guajiros, located in Zulia-Venezuela where the founder grew up. Made in Italy with the finest materials, Aliita creates womens jewellery which is simultaneously playful and beautiful.

The brand’s aesthetic is described as ‘girly, elegant, minimalist and fun’. This is a perfect understanding of Alitta. Their pieces have a hint of humour to them, with Cynthia Vilchez Castiglioni believing that jewellery should never be taken too seriously. This notion is highlighted perfectly by the brand’s cameo rings, which take a classic style and replace the silhouette of a head with that of a carrot or broccoli. The outcome is unique and lighthearted. Other designs may carve shapes out of gold, creating thin rings depicting robots, animals and dinosaurs. These whimsical pieces are minimalist in their wire-bending approach, though still make a statement. Gold and silver is used throughout the collections, as well as stunning gemstones such as ruby, sapphire, rose quartz and diamond.

Amongst necklaces with submarine divers as pendants and earrings adorned with red crabs, there are also simpler pieces which still retain immense charm. The deco sandwich rings are iconic to the brand. Their bold face features two pure stones ‘sandwiched’ together, mixing art-deco inspiration, with Aliita’s modern and innovative spirit. Delicate necklaces and bracelets reminiscent of friendship bracelets from childhood retain the Aliita playful style.

As well as creating joyful yet elegant jewellery, Aliita takes a responsible approach to business. They are increasingly focusing on their environmental consciousness, using sustainable packaging and responsibly sourced gold throughout their designs. Also, Aliita launches a charity collection during the holiday season each year, of which 100% of profits go to charities which support children in need of food and medicine in Maracaibo, Venezuela.
Aliita jewellery can be found on their website, as well as through Harvey Nichols, My Theresa and Farfetch.
