Deveaux New York launched as a menswear label in 2015, founded by Matthew Breen and Andrea Tsao. In 2018, the brand appointed Tommy Ton, streetwear photographer, as Creative Director, and with this, launched a womenswear collection too.
The brand takes a distinctive approach to design, looking to create a uniform for both men and women. Deveaux New York aims to produce a capsule wardrobe, full of everything needed to create a wearable, realistic wardrobe which is high-quality and stylish. Many of their designs seek to reinterpret classic garments, modernising them through choice of fabric, fit and silhouette. Each piece is designed to transcend trends, making for an understated, contemporary aesthetic with minimal detailing and supreme tailoring. Mainly muted, earthy tones are seen throughout collections, in-keeping with the aim of wearability.
Looking to design pieces that will be worn again and again, Deveaux New York creates the essentials for the modern wardrobe. Key pieces such as tailored trousers, cashmere sweaters and suit jackets are recontextualised for a contemporary look. Modern takes on knitwear are signature to the brand, mixing premium fabrics with interesting cuts to add a high-fashion appeal. The brand wants their collections to be ‘life-proof’, meaning that their clothing can be translated in many different ways and worn for many occasions. From longline satin dresses and resort shirts to cargo trousers and robe-coats, all areas of life are catered for, with pieces that can work for day or night, occasion to occasion.
Deveaux New York designs can be found online through the brand’s online store, and through My Theresa and Net-a-Porter.
