Hunza G

Hunza G, born as simply Hunza, was originally founded in 1984 by Peter Meadows. The label gained notoriety after Julia Roberts wore the brand’s now- famous cutout dress in Pretty Woman, a style which Hunza G continues to champion to this day. In 2015, Peter Meadows was joined by Georgiana Huddart to relaunch the label as a swimwear brand. Under Georgiana’s creative direction, Hunza G is today a London-based brand influenced by its formative designs of the ‘80’s, combined with a modern edge.

Hunza G has a strong commitment to sustainability, sourcing and producing all designs locally. The signature crinkle fabric used by the brand is knitted in a mill in the Midlands and then cut and made in the label’s London studio. Excess fabric is made into scrunchies and headbands to reduce waste and each item is made-to-order to produce no deadstock.

With a 1980’s beginning, there is certainly an element of influence from this era in contemporary Hunza G designs, seen in its use of bright colour and retro-inspired shapes. Most distinctive to the brand is their seersucker material used throughout all designs. This unique fabric stretches to the perfect fit, allowing all swimwear to come in only one size. Its textured quality adds interest, while the material flatters exceptionally. A small ready-to-wear collection from Hunza G uses this material too, offering dresses, shorts and skirts perfect for the beach or the city. The famous Pretty Woman dress is also available, as well as one-piece swimsuits of the same style. From dresses to bikinis, bold pastel shades are offered for the perfect summer feel. One shoulder designs, square neck cuts and high-leg bikini bottoms are timeless designs produced in joyful hues.

Hunza G collections are available from the brand’s online store, and from Net-a-Porter, My Theresa and Matches Fashion
