Lancel

Founded in 1877 by Angèle and Alphonse Lancel, the Parisian label began as a smoking accessories manufacturer. Lancel produced pipes, lighters and other smoking equipment before expanding into production of small leather goods in 1883. Soon, handbags became a prominent product from Lancel, and in 1900, Angèle designed a bag with hidden pockets. When the founders’ son Albert began managing the company in 1901, the label was propelled into further prosperity, with global expansion and a focus on bags and luggage. In 1927, the iconic bucket bag was launched, which remains a firm favourite from the label to this day. With such a rich heritage rooted in innovation, Lancel is today owned by Piquadro and is headed by Creative Director, Barbara Fusillo

Now producing bags, travel goods and small leather accessories, Lancel stays imaginative and creative to constantly reinterpret the needs of the modern man and woman. Time-honoured craftsmanship is mixed with a contemporary approach, to produce timeless yet exciting bags. From handbags to totes to mini-bags, Lancel bags come in pretty pastel shades and classic neutral tones. Considered details such as utilitarian pockets, elegant gold hardware and sleek shapes exude modern refinement. The signature bucket bag and stylish tote bags are endlessly practical for the everyday, and chain-detail cross-body bags hold all the essentials for an evening out. For men, Lancel offers a polished, minimalist aesthetic, using modern shapes to produce backpacks, document holders and cross-body bags.

With many stores located throughout France, Lancel boutiques can be found from Paris to Moscow to Dubai. Their collections can also be accessed online, through the brand’s online store.
