Manheimer Berlin

Manheimer Berlin was founded in 1839 by Valentin Manheimer. The fashion house experienced great success, with the 1920’s proving particularly prosperous for the company. As one of Berlin’s first womenswear manufacturers, the label was extremely popular both in Germany and abroad, known in particular for their affordable wool coats for women. High quality garments were mass produced, enabled by Manheimer’s invention of the measurement system for ready-to-wear, allowing the company to keep costs down but quality high.

When Hitler and the Nazis began to rise to power, Jewish clothing companies were soon shut down by the authorities. As a German-Jewish company, Manheimer Berlin was shut down in 1929. The brand was re-launched in 2018 by Jandorf Holding with the blessing and attendance of the founder’s great-great-grandson, Andreas Valentin, and under the creative direction of Michael Sontag.

Although originally a womenswear label, Manheimer Berlin made its comeback as a menswear brand, producing luxurious, minimalist clothing and suiting. The brand utilises a refined and simplistic aesthetic to produce wardrobe essentials for the modern man. From soft turtle-neck jumpers and tailored trousers to effortless blazers and crewnecks, Manheimer Berlin provides everything needed for a nonchalant yet supremely polished look.
