Miu Miu

Miu Miu was founded in 1992 by Miuccia Prada, and is owned by the Prada group. This Italian luxury fashion brand is unrestrained and expressive, a move from the comparative minimalism of the Prada brand itself. The name Miu Miu derives from Miuccia’s nickname, and the brand is inspired by Miuccia’s own personal wardrobe, which as Creative director, she is able to channel expertly. Wishing to articulate a sense of the modern woman, Miu Miu is a ‘tangible expression of the energy conveyed by women’s natural contradictions and provocative personalities to contemporary society’.

A high-fashion womenswear brand, Miu Miu also encapsulates bags, shoes, accessories, eyewear and fragrance. The brand evokes a youthful and carefree spirit throughout its collections, using bright colours and prints to make designs playful. With some tongue-in-cheek styles and a hint of humour, Miu Miu keeps things energetic. This can be seen in flirty dresses and a girly approach to glamour. However, this does not distract from the rebellious and bold nature of Miu Miu designs, which come to light in platform boots, heavily embellished garments and statement sunglasses. Contemporary femininity is portrayed through stunning colourways and daring cuts, proving the brand popular amongst strong young women such as Elle Fanning and Alexa Chung.  Ultimately, the brand mixes all sides and personalities of a contemporary woman, eliciting a breezy yet audacious aesthetic, which allows and encourages wearers to feel confident.

Miu Miu boutiques can be found throughout the world and their lighthearted styles can be found on their website. Farfetch, Net-a-Porter and My Theresa also stock Miu Miu designs
