Ozwald Boateng is an influential British fashion designer and Savile Row tailor. His fascination with fashion started from a young age, inspired by the sharp suits he saw his father wearing. At college, Ozwald Boateng changed courses from computer science to fashion, and created his first collections using his mother’s sewing machine. His first studio opened on Portobello Road in 1991, and in 1994 he presented at Paris Fashion Week, becoming the first tailor ever to showcase a catwalk in Paris. Over the years, Ozwald Boateng has designed for the likes of Jamie Foxx, Leonardo DiCaprio, Will Smith and Idris Elba. The brand moved to Savile Row first in 1995, relocating to its current home, 30 Savile Row in 2008, where Ozwald Boateng remains the only black-owned store on the Row.
Known for adding a signature twist to classic tailoring, Ozwald Boateng is credited with bringing a younger audience to Savile Row. His modern approach to traditional menswear saw a revitalised interest in Savile Row, fusing traditional British tailoring with a contemporary sensibility. Ozwald Boateng is recognised for a unique use of colour, influenced by the designer’s Ghanaian heritage and resulting in rich, vibrant linings and pops of colour.
Within bespoke and made-to-measure services, Ozwald Boateng offers ultimate luxury from their prestigious store. Expert tailors produce the best fit, catering designs meticulously to an individual’s needs. A high-end finish is achieved across bespoke and made-to-measure, as well as through ready-to-wear, which encompasses shirts, ties, pocket squares and scarves. Crisp white shirts are met with beautiful colour palettes across shirts and accessories, met with intricate prints which exude polished sophistication.
