Ray-Ban

Ray-Ban was established in 1936 when US Air Corps Colonel John Macready teamed up with Bausch & Lomb, a medical equipment manufacturer. Macready was concerned about the reduced visibility for pilots at high altitudes due to the intense hues in the sky and fogging. Working together, Macready and Bausch & Lomb created their first design to remedy these visibility problems in 1936, known as ‘anti-glare’ glasses. Since then, Ray-Ban has become a leader in eyewear for both sunglasses and prescription styles. In 1999, Ray-Ban was acquired by the luxury eyewear conglomerate Luxottica Group.
