Marina Rinaldi

Established by the Max Mara Fashion Group in 1980, Marina Rinaldi is a luxury fashion label for plus-size women. The founder of the Max Mara Group, Achille Maramotti, launched the clothing line to cater to the needs of women who had consistently been overlooked in the fashion world. The brand is named after Achille’s grandmother, Marina Rinaldi, who is said to have made dresses for curvaceous women during her career as a seamstress. Until the launch of Marina Rinaldi, plus-size fashion was not available, and with the brand’s introduction, the term ‘plus-size’ was also introduced. This was derived from the Italian expression ‘taglia comoda’, which translates to ‘comfortable size’.
