Rolex

Brothers-in-law Hans Wilsdorf and Alfred Davis founded their watch company in London in 1905, originally importing Swiss movements and adding them into British watchcases before selling them on to various jewellers. After finding success in this venture, the duo saw the potential of setting up their own watch brand, resulting in the creation of Rolex in 1908. After the First World War, the company moved to Geneva for more favourable economic situations, and the brand has been based there ever since. Success grew continuously as the founders sought innovative designs, such as waterproof watches in 1926 and automatic winding wristwatches in 1931.

Rolex watches were designed to accompany individuals on the most daring of expeditions or challenges- their watches were worn during the first expedition to the summit of Mount Everest, worn during a swim across the English Channel, and have been taken in race cars at speeds over 250mph. The brand’s ability to demonstrate their watches’ resistance was integral to their success, showcasing the quality and exceptional design which has always underpinned Rolex watches.

Since 1960, Rolex has been owned by the private family trust, the Hans Wilsdorf Foundation. The reputation of Rolex has only grown, and today their designs are an international symbol of class and prestige. With a heritage in sports and expedition, the brand is true to its history to this day, continuing to work with some of the highest achievers in tennis, golf, yachting and motor sport. Their modern designs are not dissimilar to the first Rolex creations, keeping their timeless aesthetic remarkably consistent. The finest materials are used and watches are assembled meticulously, in-keeping with the exceptional standards which Rolex is known for.

Producing watches for men and women, Rolex watches are offered in yellow, rose and white gold, often mixing metals and adorning watches with opulent diamonds.
